Hall of Fame Coach Jim Winterton, has been coaching racquetball since 1973. Over the past 38 years Jim has taught, competed with, and coached the top names in the game. Honing his craft over those years, Jim never lost touch with the ultimate goal, helping people. In 2011, Jim did something no coach has ever done before, coached the number one male and female pros in the world.Who is this guy?
Mind repair. When your car breaks down you go the garage and they find a part to replace the broken one. Here are seven “broken” mindsets and the parts...
Advice from pros of other sports can be a good thing but I also have to weigh the sport with the advice and see if it translates to racquetball....
Alternative training methods pop up from some of the “old school” legends from time to time on the blogs and internet. Here are some of my likes and dislikes:...
Had a great lesson yesterday with a player from back East. We started where we always start-forehand, backhand, and beginning footwork. The footwork is always brand new to players...

"I met Coach Winterton in 2007. Prior to that I had played competitively for 17 years. Coach Winterton helped me take my game to the next level. He is an excellent diagnostician. At the same time, he recognizes a player’s uniqueness and customizes what will work and be effective for each player. As a former teacher, Coach Winterton is cognizant of individual learning styles and personalities. He has the ability to communicate with the player to achieve maximum results. There is a saying, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” Coach Winterton taught this “old dog” a lot of new tricks, resulting in two National titles. I give him my highest recommendation."

"Being a part of Coach Winterton’s team has had a significantly positive influence on my game and ability to play. Just in the past 6 months, my game has started to improve dramatically. I was a middle to low B player before meeting Coach Winterton and would constantly get a sore back and shoulder by the end of a match. From my first lesson with him, he noticed my improper form on my backhand and brought me back to basics on my backhand returns. He created a custom series of drills and techniques for me that helped me learn the correct backhand and checked in on my progress regularly. By slight changes to my grip, stance, racquet prep and swing, I find that my body is much less sore then in the past; my power has increased significantly and I feel like I am using a third of the effort that I used to have to use in order to return a shot. I cannot wait to see what the next 6 months will bring!"

"Whatever your level, beginner or advanced, Coach Winterton will lift your game to heights you never thought possible. He takes the time to find out exactly what you need to better your game. I trust him and so should you!"

"Coach Winterton has been coaching me for almost three years now. In that time, I went from playing in the A and B divisions to playing in the pro qualifier and open divisions. I know for a fact that I would not have improved that fast if it wasn’t for Coach. Not only has he helped out my game a ton, the one thing that really stands out to me is how much he cares about his athletes on an individual and personal level. Every time I go to Arizona to train with Coach, he treats me like family. Honestly, three years ago when I was deciding whether or not I wanted to sign up for the monthly program, I was hesitant. But looking back, I am so glad I did. Signing up for the monthly program made me commit to improving my game and also got me a coach who was committed to helping me achieve my goals, which combined allowed me to improve at an incredible rate. As I’ve said, I owe a lot of this improvement to Coach Winterton. Thanks Coach!"
